A Night of Stardust - A Tribute to David Bowie

Union Tansfer, 1026 Spring Garden, Philadelphia

A Night of Stardust is the grand finale of Philly Loves Bowie Week. The event which sold out World Cafe Live in Wilmington in May of 2016, and World Cafe Live Philadelphia in January of 2017, will bring the same energy, creativity, and dedication to the influence of David Bowie to Union Transfer for 2018. Dan Kauffman (Glim Dropper) is once again the music director for 2018 bringing back the same amazing backing band featured at World Cafe Live in 2017. Rob Schnell on drums, Keith Giosa on keys, Vahe Sarkissian on guitar, Joe Grillo on sax, and Dan Kauffman on bass. Lance Davis (Grady Hoss and the Sidewinders) is the vocal director and is bringing back many of the stars from 2017 including Johnny Showcase, Ginger Coyle, and Hotsy Totsy, while introducing some new vocalists this year, Alyssa Lee Lewis, Deanna Roisin, TruVox and Special Guest, Peg Talbot-Lane from Candy Volcano! Main Light is generously sponsoring this event and providing a full light show. A huge silent auction will be taking place at the venue during the event with all sorts of Bowie related souvenirs, proceeds of the auction, and a portion of proceeds from ticketing will benefit CHOP.

Also featuring a performance by Earl Slick and Mark Plati (both ex Bowie band members.) Earl played lead guitar on David Live, Young Americans, Station to Station, Heathen, Reality, and toured extensively with Bowie. Stepping up out of an appreciation of the dedication of the Sigma Kids, including Philly Loves Bowie’s own Patti Brett & Marla Kanevsky, and also to assist in the goal of raising money for The Cancer Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, in memory of David Bowie (the event’s beneficiary), he will be performing along with Mark Plati, who also has history performing and producing with David Bowie. Also performing is Jeff Slate, his partner in Slick & Slate, and his own son Lee John Madeloni on drums.

We all know David Bowie’s death on January 10th sent a ripple effect to people all over the world. The music legend is easily one of the most influential musicians and creative innovators of all time. His impact on music, fashion, movies, art and style is almost impossible to measure. His courage to be different helped change the lives of millions, and helped shape the true artists of today.

A Night of Stardust will be a chance to celebrate his life with one of the biggest Bowie devoted shows you will EVER see. The event will feature over 25 of Bowie’s greatest songs and will cover Bowie’s catalog from Space Oddity to Lazarus. This will be a true Bowie experience that won’t want to be missed by true fans of his music, art and fashion. We challenge concertgoers to be as outrageous as you can with fashion. Dress like you always wanted to be, but maybe never had a reason to do so in the past. Now’s your chance - Bowie would’ve wanted it that way!

From the vision of Gregory Shelton, the production of Gable Music Ventures and music direction of Dan Kauffman and Lance Davis, we’re excited as hell to bring you ”A Night of Stardust” A concert truly dedicated to one of the most important artists of our time and presented by some of the best musicians and artists in the DE/Philly/NYC/Baltimore area.
